May 2003
Slyne with Hest Parish Council hold public meeting to introduce the idea of a Parish Plan. A voluntary steering group was formed.

Jan - Dec. 2004
Funding is achieved from the Countryside Agency Vital Villages Scheme to help with printing and consultant costs.

A short questionnaire was hand delivered to every household in the civil parish of Slyne with Hest. Additional research into the matters of concern for residents was carried out by members of the steering group.

March 2005
" Parish History - Forward Plan" a public exhibition held in the Memorial Hall . This detailed the past and present of the Parish provided by the History Group and the Parish Plan Steering Group. Every child from the local primary school contributed drawings of “their favourite place in the parish.” It was a great success and attended by over 600 residents, the local M.P. and councillors. A "Wish Tree" and Post -It notes allowed residents to have their say about current issues.littlegrange.jpg

June 2005
A Draft Issues Report was prepared and circulated to key agencies.

September 2005
Meeting of key individuals and organisations held to discuss Parish Plan findings and prioritise into an Action Plan.

January 2006

A printed colour version of the Parish Plan incorporating the Action Plan is produced and passed to the Parish Council for implementation.


Web site developed by WebWise to publicise the plan and collect resident’s views. Link is made to the Parish website.

May 2006
The village May Fair is revived and successfully takes place with a new theme.

October 2006
Village Design Statement produced to complement and extend the Parish Plan.

2007
The Memorial Hall is updated and architects are engaged to examine extensive renovations/rebuild
